About ALS Society of Canada Virtual Walk-A-Thon Project

The ALS Society of Canada hosts a yearly walk-a-thon, and this year, held their first-ever fully virtual Walk to End ALS in Ontario. Looking to incorporate elements of their in-person event, they partnered with Encore to create a Virtual Start Line and Finish Line.

Line of Business: Virtual Events

Client Needs:

The ALS Society of Canada needed to find a creative way to continue their fundraising efforts and brand awareness in a virtual environment. Encore provided streaming capabilities for up to 5,000 attendees with a custom branded microsite and Facebook Live stream to webcast the ALS Virtual Finish Line. This event needed to bring together viewership from all facets of the ALS community, and had 14 presenters including 2 musical acts and a magician.

We Delivered:

Our team integrated with the ALS planning team in order to produce an event that could be streamed through their chosen microsite provider’s technology. We provided full virtual production including staffing and equipment for execution, technical direction, stage management, a virtual stage and green rooms, as well we presenter support in preparation for the event. We also provided technical consultation for a Facebook live integration.

Transformative Value

With Encore’s help, the first Virtual Walk-A-Thon was a huge success!  The ALS Society of Canada was able to engage members, donors and company employees in order to achieve their monetary and engagement goals in a creative way.  The Encore team provided smooth transitions between a variety of remote presenters, musical acts and even a magician, while providing real-time fundraising updates along the way.
